How to Apply for Membership

This guide covers the path from application to activated membership in EBRAINS AISBL. It applies to both Full and Associate Member applicants — the pathways only diverge afterwards, at node formation.

Before you start: confirm which category applies to your institution, and that the eligibility conditions in Article 4.3 or 4.4 of the Statutes are met. See Membership categories.

What happens at step 5

Step 5 is where the two membership categories separate:

• Full Member → node formation is expected. Continue with Establish a National Node.
• Associate Member → node formation is optional. If your country has no Full Member and you want to begin building one, see Node in Formation. Taking no further action is also a valid outcome.
